Who are we?
TERRA is the first competition team at UFSC - Joinville dedicated to realize analysis and the construction of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The team participates in national and international competitions.
What is AUV?
Autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) is a kind of robot or mechatronic system that operates underwater like a submarine without necessite of a human pilot, because it has a limited autonomy.
History
The team was idealized in 2018, and its project was made official in 2019, when the team started participating in AUV competitions. It has participated in competitions every year since its foundation.
In addition to the members, the team has three teachers involved in the project, such as the team coordinator Prof. Dr. Andrea Piga Carboni and collaborating professors Prof. Dr. Lucas Weihmann and Prof. Dr. Roberto Simoni.

- Develop national technologies in the field of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs);
- Promote excellence in extension projects, acting to become a national reference;
- Expand and practice the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom, aiming at the personal and professional development of the team members;
- Represent the Federal University of Santa Catarina in national and international competitions;
- Consolidate the relationship between the institution (UFSC), the student and the community;

Other activities
Connection with other teams and companies: we are always in contact with other teams and exchanging experiences and reading a lot of material produced by them in previous years of the competition. In addition to trying to create links with companies that are willing to support the project, whether financially or with some product, equipment, we are always open to any partnership and contact.
